2023 YONEX Canadian Masters Badminton Championships

The Calgary Winter Club is the host venue for the 2023 YONEX Canadian Masters Badminton Championships. This event will run from June 12-17, 2023 and we anticipate over 300 competitors from across Canada, and around the globe. Players range from 30 to 90+ years of age, and travel from countries as far away as Japan, England, Germany, Pakistan, the USA and Peru. 

We expect fierce competition throughout the week, and camaraderie thereafter, with several evening social events that further foster relationships and goodwill amongst competitors, keeping them coming back to this sport and annual event. It is a truly unique event that showcases our nation’s best players, and their lifelong commitment to the sport of badminton.

Registration



Online registration for 2023 YONEX Canadian Masters Badminton Championships will be available through the Badminton Canada website:

Tournament entries will be capped at 325 participants due to the number of courts at the Calgary Winter Club, register early to guarantee entry. Full details regarding the participant capacity will be available in the Badminton Canada tournament regulations.

Accommodations

The Best Western Village Park Inn and Aloft Calgary University have rooms reserved for the 2023 YONEX Canadian Masters Badminton Championships.

Rooms are available on a first come first serve basis and are only reserved until April 25, 2023. After this date the hotels may not be able to accommodate bookings or provide the event booking rate. Please consider booking at the tournament hotel as this directly supports our tournament.

  • Hotels are directly across the street from one another and in proximity to restaurants, shopping and transit.
  • Transportation will be provided from the hotels to the Calgary Winter Club tournament venue (~10 min drive). See Transportation for full details.
  • Sunday, June 11, Welcome Reception & Player Registration will be located at the Best Western Village Park Inn.
  • Both hotels are within walking distance to the Wednesday, June 14 & Saturday, June 17 social events at the Red & White Club (transportation also to be provided). See Social Events for full details.

Sunday, June 11 – Welcome Reception & Player Registration


Location: Best Western Village Park Inn, 1804 Crowchild Trail NW Calgary

Event Hours: 5:00 pm - 8:00 pm

Event Style: Drop in during event hours to say hello, pick up player registration and enjoy a beverage/snacks

Registration will also be available at the Calgary Winter Club on June 12.
 

Wednesday, June 14 – Theme Banquet

Location: Red and White Club, 1833 Crowchild Trail NW Calgary- North end of McMahon Stadium

Event Hours: 6:00 pm-12:00 am (6:00 pm cocktail hour, 7:00 pm dinner, followed by costume contest and DJ)

Theme: Canadian Tuxedo

Event Style: Costume party, seated dinner with DJ entertainment

Saturday, June 17 – Final Banquet

Location: Red and White Club, 1833 Crowchild Trail NW Calgary- North end of McMahon Stadium

Event Hours: 6:00 pm-1:00 am (6:00 pm cocktail hour, 7:00 pm dinner, followed by live entertainment from the Dueling Piano Kings)

Attire: Semi-formal

Event Style: Seated dinner

Transportation will be provided; the Red & White Club is also within walking distance to the tournament hotel(s) and the Calgary Transit (Banff Trail Train Station- LRT).







 

Transportation

Scheduled transportation will be provided between tournament hotels and the Calgary Winter Club regularly during tournament play. Transportation will also be provided to the Red & White Club for the Social Events on Wednesday, June 14 and Saturday, June 17.

Banff Tour

The host committee has organized a private Brewster’s coach to Banff on June 18, 2023.

The bus will depart Calgary from the Best Western Village Park Inn for Banff at 10:00 am and arrive back in Calgary at approximately 4:00 pm. Stops planned include downtown Banff and the Banff Gondola (admission separate). Payment must be received to reserve your spot, please contact Milaine Cloutier directly for questions and to reserve. The cost per person is $40.
