The childcare is a very popular spot with the younger children at the Club, where they can come and play while their parents are using other areas of the club.  The childcare cares for infants and children from six weeks old to around six or seven year of age although the room is geared for infants, toddlers and preschoolers.

Infants who are under 18 months must book ahead and may stay for a maximum of 2 hours per day.  Children who are 18 months or older may just drop-in and may stay for a maximum of 3 hours per day.  The childcare has many activities and toys including: painting, coloring, dress-up, building, cars/trucks/trains and puzzles.  For infants we have playpens, swings, saucers and baby toys.  When there are enough infants (under 18 months) they are cared for in the Nursery section of the childcare.  When there are only a few infants they are cared for together with the older children.  The ratio of infants to caregivers is 5:1.  For active members who are under 6, childcare is included in the child’s membership fees.  Select waitlist members, guests and children over six years of age are charged an hourly rate.

Childcare Hours of Operation:
Monday – Friday 8:45 am – 8 pm
Saturday 8:45 am - 4 pm
Sunday & Holidays 9 am – 4 pm
Hours vary over Christmas break and the summer.

Rates:
Select waitlist children member children six and over:
$5.50 per hour for first child
$4.50 per hour for each addtional child in the same family at the same time

Member children six and over:
$5.00 per hour for first child
$4.00 per hour for each addtional child in the same family at the same time

Guests, social waitlist and non-resident members:
$7.50 per hour for first child
$5.50 per hour for each addtional child in the same family at the same time

Programs

The Childcare offers two special programs as listed below:

Kids in the Hall is a complementary minimally supervised area in the upper classroom for children who are six years old and in grade one and up. Here, school aged children can join their friends to build, play games, do crafts or watch TV. This program is offered on Saturday mornings from 9:00AM - 1:00PM most weeks

Away and play is a program where parents can sign up and are able to leave the club to do whatever they need to do for a two and a half hour duration. This program runs at certain times of the year and is a service that parents need to pay for and register for as there are limited spaces.

Heather Mackie is the CWC Preschool Director and has been with the Club since 1998.
